Medical considerations that may contribute to bedwetting include diabetes, urinary tract infection, fecal soiling (encopresis), pinworms, kidney failure, seizures, and sleep apnea.

●      Considerations: Constipation eval and treatment, trauma/abuse

○      Motivational techniques used only if warranted

○      Bedwetting alarms are recommended only for ages 6+

●      Initial testing

○      UA dip

●      Other Testing: UA microscopy, vasopressin/ADH serum testing, stool for pinworms or other parasites, food allergy or sensitivity testing, assessment of AD(H)D- some studies connect ADHD with nocturnal enuresis

●      Rx; Desmopressin is only considered for ages 8+ and only used after motivational and alarm therapies have been tried and failed.

●      Other treatments: Acupuncture
